Prince George district school board deems separate protection policies for LGBTQ youth unnecessary

A school district meeting in Prince George has decided that a 
standalone protection policy for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and 
transgendered students is unnecessary. Numerous presenters at
the meeting urged the board to create a separate policy to 
protect LGBT youth from bullying. Trustee Tim Bennett said 
that updating the current manual towards the protection of 
students is well enough. However instructor Tim Laing 
disagrees saying that the manual has been around for years, 
but is rarely followed. 15 other school districts in the 
province have already implemented separate bullying policies.
